Volkswagen Confirms VW e-Caddy Electric Van On-sale This Year

Added: 24 May 2019

Sustainability matters to us. Across the Heritage group we’ve noticed that more and more of our customers are turning to us to help them to lead more sustainable and ecologically conscious lives. And we’ve also noticed that the brands with which we have allied ourselves have risen to meet the ecological challenges of the 2020s. In the information age, we know that our customers are better informed than ever. They’re increasingly aware of how the decisions they make as consumers can impact upon the planet. They’re also able to extensively research which brands are best positioned to help them to drive more sustainably. Volkswagen are aware of all this and they have risen to the occasion with aplomb.

At Heritage Volkswagen we’ve seen the effort, energy and ingenuity that have gone into Volkswagen’s steps forward in sustainable motoring over the recent years.

Volkswagen are putting sustainability first!

The Volkswagen Group has made some extremely admirable efforts in recent years that show that they’re committed to making sustainability a driving force as it looks to the future. The Volkswagen group works with a number of renowned experts from all over the world to help bring down the brand’s carbon footprint and help its customers to find more sustainable motoring solutions without detracting from their driving experience.

It has embraced stop start technologies and eco-friendly intelligent driving modes, as well as the use of fuel additive AdBlue to reduce nitrous oxide emissions in diesel engines. What’s more, the brand has rolled out an extensive hybrid range including the E-Up, the E-Golf, the Passat GTE and the upcoming ID.3 all electric hatchback.

But don’t worry, VW’s vans will be getting the electric treatment with the E-Caddy and e-Transporter vans. Now that we have confirmation that the E-Caddy will grace our showrooms this year, let’s take a look at what we have to look forward to...

Getting to know the E-Caddy

Working in collaboration with ABT, Volkswagen have completely electrified its hugely popular Caddy Van. The first electric van to feature right hand drive, the E-caddy will come to the UK in Long Wheel Base Caddy Maxi form with a single 82kW electric motor powering the front wheels. This will be powered by a 38.8kWh battery with 160-mile driving range. You won’t need to sacrifice payload for performance, either with an impressive 636kg capacity.

It will also come loaded with a raft of safety features including autonomous emergency braking as standard. All the benefits users have come to expect from the Caddy with added ecological sustainability!
